Ya gotta have grace, Faith

The controversy over Faith Hill’s reaction to her loss at Monday’s Country Music Awards is pretty ridiculous. It comes down to one thing: grace. To me, her reaction looks pretty genuine, but it’s hard to believe someone who’s been doing this for so long would react like that to a loss, but then again, maybe because she’s now struggling after being on top for so long due to a young upstart like Carrie Underwood has her on edge. Few can really say, and I definitely can’t. What I definitely can say is that if it wasn’t a joke, it was a sad moment. And if it was a joke, it’s a truly awful statement about how self-centered Hill has become. To steal the spotlight from the winner is worse than to have a natural angry reaction to losing. She’d have been better off just saying she reacted poorly and moved on. Attempting to recover from this “joke,” even if it really was a joke, is going to be very difficult. She’ll never live it down. Will it actually affect her career? I doubt it, but it certainly won’t help it.
