The state of King’s X

Filed under: Music — Tom @ 11:37 am

I was rather saddened today when I decided to check on King’s X and found that their official site came up with only a “temporarily disabled” message. Neither King’s X Online nor King’s X(.net) were available, and a search turned up King’s X Rocks, a new official site, so at least they have a presence out there. Unfortunately, it appears that in the move they’ve done away with the very active forum that used to be attached to the sites. I realize the band is struggling to stay afloat, but doing things like getting rid of the fan-forum that fueled a large amount of their financial support is just not a good idea. I hope it’s something that will reappear at some point in the near future – forums are often the best place to get information about the goings-on of bands, and since I went in search of what the hell is this new “best of King’s X*” that Atlantic is releasing this fall, it’s pretty sure that others are missing out on that information, too. I think it’s sad – this great band goes so ignored that they’re practically forgotten out there, and then they’re so strapped that they aren’t keeping their old domains up (maybe there’s more to the story, but I’m guessing it’s something along those lines.)

*No release date, just information I found at Music Tap (on the front page today and will be archived here.)
