Feist, I really enjoy your album, The Reminder, but I think we need to take a break. We’ve been hanging out, what, five or six months now? It’s just that I’m seeing too much of you. You’re getting clingy. It feels like I can’t get away from you. You’ve been everywhere for the past month or so, thanks to Apple and its new Ipod ad that features the ridiculously catchy “1 2 3 4” and the goofy dancer-filled video that accompanies it.
I’m fairly certain that a large number of your suitors are picking up The Reminder for more songs like “1 2 3 4” and, well, there just aren’t any like that – it’s all dark, somber, kind of depressing stuff. I’m afraid there are going to be a lot of used copies of The Reminder on Amazon and in local used CD stores in the next few months – especially right after Christmas, when this will surely be pushed as a quick last-minute gift.
It’s just too much for me right now. I need space. Let’s take some time apart and maybe when everyone has cooled down about the album a bit, we’ll get back together.
