Steps for acquiring the Joshua Tree Deluxe Edition: open wallet, empty

Amazon now has a page for the Super-Duper Hyper Deluxe Edition of U2’s Joshua Tree. It’s the 20th Anniversary of the album that turned everyone into raging diehard fans of the band they had never heard of up until that point, so diehard that they were shocked and outraged when they made a divergent right-turn with Achtung Baby . . . but I digress. Anyway, look at this thing:

U2 Joshua Tree Deluxe

Books and discs aplenty, beautiful packaging, from what can be seen there. It looks very, very nice. And Island is requesting that we pay through both nose and ass for this one – $47.99 currently. Hopefully that is an early price that will come down as the Best Buys, Circuit Cities, Targets, etc. start pricing theirs – and who doesn’t think someone is going to have some kind of exclusive bonus with at least one of their versions?

Hey, I guess we can’t complain too much. It’s better than the questionably “deluxier” edition of the Beatles’ Help! DVD out tomorrow. $95?!

  1. I checked Amazon this morning and was taken aback by the initial price, too. I’ll pay it if I have to because this looks like a pretty great package, but I’ll be resentful as all fuck.
